airlines to avoid?

I'm travelling within the usa in october and november and have seen a few comments about united airlines declaring bankruptcy in fall(please correct me if I'm, wrong on this). In saying this should I book with another airline and if so which ones would you travel with?

Thanks david

Book your airlines with the best fares and you should be fine. Bankruptcy does not mean they will stop flying immediately (at least the big ones--small ones do just quit sometimes). Hope you get some good fares--there are some sales going on right now.

Book through a travel agent and purchase trip insurance. If anything happens, the travel agent will take care of everything for you. I would avoid United Airlines on principal. The treatment the families of their flight crews that perished on 9/11 received was despicable!

Could you elaborate a bit more?
I am not aware of what United did not do for the families of the crews

United has the potential of declaring bankruptcy if they don't meet a certain target by this fall. I received a letter from the VP or someone like that saying that they will continue to fly. Any airline will work, just get the lowest fare. I've flown on united numerous times, and have had no problems.

Three pilots' widows (United Airlines) were on GMA this morning. Their stories were appalling.
