Tuscon lodging help!
I will be in Tuscon in January and am looking for a good place to stay. Arizona Inn and Ventana are too pricey and I'm not interested in a chain motel or fancy resort. We want something that has a desert flavor and is quiet and romantic. Does anyone have information on the following and what would you reccomend? Hacienda del Sol, Lodge On the Desert, Westword Look and Casa de Tierra.

We stayed at a B&B, Hacienda del Desierto, last March for our anniversary and really enjoyed it. They really were very nice and the place was clean and quite nice. We actually were in a private unit that had a bedroom, living/sitting room, kitchenette and bathroom. They even had a bottle of champagne waiting when we got there. You can check out their website www.tucson-bed-breakfast.com.
Good luck!

I have stayed at Westward look, and for the price, thought it was a good deal. The rooms are pretty large, and I also heard it was recently renovated. It's not spectacular, but very clean, nice and the grounds and pool are beautiful. I love Tucson, hope you do too!

I disagree about the post on Westward Look - of all of the places you mentioned (although I don't know Casa de Tierra) - that is where I would stay. We live in Tucson and in the summer we sometimes stay there for a night because they have smokin' deals. The grounds are beautiful; the view of the city from the two restaurants is spectacular. Very nice, laid back resort. We have stayed in very nice, large rooms.

We stayed at Casa Tierra b&b a few years ago and loved it. What a gorgeous place - a real adobe home with an open air courtyard that the rooms open to. Lovely hot tub area where we hung out at night. The desert setting is incredible. And the hosts were interesting and made an awesome breakfast. Highly recommend this place.

Hubby and I go to Tucson on many an occasion and have stayed at the Westward Look. We find it very nice, rooms well appointed, and large. There is a main dining room and a very small casual cafe. One can park a car close to the room which is very handy. It is located in the foothill section of the city. Have you looked into staying at suites hotels? There are some nice ones located north of the city in Oro Valley.
