Can you please suggest how i can get to JFK from Westchester County (I live in the croton on hudson/Ossining ( northern westchester county) area. i would like to avoid the expense of a limo and am hoping there is bus service. appreciate any and all help!

No direct bus service. Best choice is shuttle bus ($17?) to Grand Central and then MetroNorth.

If you really want to save money you could do AirTrain to subway and save $10 - but the trip would be excrutiating.

No one has mentioned that the methods recommended all would take at least two hours. Thus, the question is: How important a factor is time?

Have you investigated a 1-way car rental? Sometimes that's the most economical way when you live in the burbs, especially if there is more than one person. And faster than the above mass transit options.

If the intention is to reach the AirTrain, from Grand Central, take the 6 train (subway) uptown to 51st Street and transfer to the E train to Jamaica Station, which connects to the Air Train.

Taking the subway would be tedious for many, because of multiple connections and possible flights of stairs.

To my mind, the BEST option is still MetroNorth to Grand Central, walk across the street and take the JFK Bus Service, which goes directly to each airlinie terminal.

either way this will take longer than you might think, please prepare yourself with alot of extra time. good luck.

sailingsailing, you might just try talking to J&S Taxi about their rates. It would reduce the time/stress, and it's not much more than All-County.

Another factor to consider, besides the amount of time, is the amount of luggage. I'd hate to be schleppling a lot of luggage and changing from one transit vehicle to another and another.
