Should I take the train or rent car for two days in Vancouver, BC. How is the public transpo in and around Vanc. I'm assuming its very good, no? Never been to the Northwest. Many thanks!

Where will you be when you rent a car or board a train?

I was just in Vancouver for a day or so (it's beautiful!)...My sister was there before me and was there for a couple of days. She didn't have a problem getting around, so I think you'll be okay using public transportation!

Sorry. I will be in Seattle.

We were in Vancouver last summer and we walked everywhere. We took the train up from Seattle and were glad we did...no border hassle, no traffic and no gas prices to worry about.

Check the times the train departs and returns. If they suit you, the train may be a good option. A car will cost a lot more.

Another possibility is Quick Coach--a frequent bus (limo) service between Seattle and Vancouver that has many more depatures with pick-ups and derop-offs at more convenient locations (see www.quickcoach.com).

It's a wonderful train trip, a good bit of it very scenic. Public transport in Vancouver is very good. There's an elevated commuter train in the easterly corridor and bus service throughout the community is frequent and reliable, save some periodic traffic jams. A strong vote for the train from me.

The SkyTrain station is directly across the street from the main rail station and couldn't be easier for getting into the very center of the city.
