The Fillmore in SF
I just found a concert on May 8th that I want to go to at the Fillmore. My problem is that I don't have enough time for tickets to be mailed without the high overnight charge. From the information I have found I can purchase tickts the day of the show, but the box office doesn't open until 1/2 hour before the show. Will I be able to get a good seat if I wait until this late to get my tickets since it is general admission, or should I pay the overnight charge? Thanks!

My only worry would be that the show might sell out (pretty common for popular acts). You don't get a seat, regardless, since it's just a big dance floor/bar area. If you get there very early you can snag a chair upstairs. Can't you have the tickets held at "will call"?

Nan,
I can have the tickets held at will call but I couldn't get them until 1 hour prior to the concert, and I don't know if that is soon enough to get a seat. We were wanting to get there early enough to get a seat, I didn't realize there were only a few seats. Do you have any idea how early we should get there to get a seat? Thanks

One hour would be enough to get the tickets.
Seats... maybe. I am don't know what show you're seeing, but the seats are quite far away. Most people just stand. It is a nice venue- not your warehouse looking club type, I am sure you will have a good time even standing.

It is a nice club and there are seats, but I've never gotten there early enough to snag one. I'd suggest if there are two in your party you cruise by the Fillmore maybe two hours before the show and see if anyone is lining up. You can both stand in line until the ticket window opens and then one of you can go claim your tickets. Needs to be the person who ordered them, of course, since they will ask for ID. Some popular shows do have lineups two hours in advance. But you don't need your ticket to line up. Good luck!

Bonnie,
The only seats on the main auditorium floor of the Fillmore are along the sides, they are very few and definitely NOT reserved. There is a mezzanine bar with some seats along the balcony edge, same thing, first come first seated (these are a very desirable place for observing the stage, so they get taken fast). The main floor space in the auditorium is primarily a dance/standing room space. FYI, a few steps up from the mezzanine bar there is a very nice cafe with lots of seating (but you are definitely away from the music). Food and beverages are served, and the walls are completely covered in every single poster every produced by the Fillmore.
Have fun.

Thanks everyone. Susan you are a girl after my own heart, I think you have solved my problem! Even if we don't get seats, it's Sammy Hagar, how much will we be sitting anyway. Thanks to all, can't wait to get to your city. Cross your fingers for no or little rain next week.
