The Alex Hotel in New York

They are running a special for december and I'm thinking of staying in one of their one bedroom suites with DH and DD. Would love to hear any reviews/opinions.TIA

I had friends who stayed there who spoke quite favorably of it.

Trendy suite hotel that runs somewhat "under the radar" I think partly b/c it's so pricey. Wonder what the special pricing is vs. say Affinia Dumont or Affinia 50 either of which are not far.

Do you know about the newish AKA suites hotels? Also quite stylish
http://www.hotelaka.com/ Central Park location is wonderful.

Don't know it myself - but have you looked at tripadvisor.com?

the special they;re running on their website is a one bedroom suite on a weekend night in december for $400 incl breakfast for 2 and a bottle of vueve cliquot. The London is 465 for the same night (for me that includes breakfast, high tea and late checout unde amex). I'm wondering if the alex is the same level as teh london.

McL- i thought the alex was thought to be in a better category than the affinia group. having stayed at the benjamin, I wasn't wowed.

mcLaurie- they aka suites look gorgeous, but for the night i am looking at, a deluxe room is 675 and it's not a suite.

The Alex would be considered above the Affinias but I don't think it's as nice as the London (nor is the location as good imo). For $65, I'd personally opt for the London with b/f, aft. tea and late checkout.

I should have added (but you probably know) the London doesn't have real kitchens in their suites but the Alex does. Not sure that matters to you.
