Thai in Chicago

Anyone know of a good Thai restaurant within walking distance of the Westin Chicago River North? We've been to Arun's which has a prix fix menu. Something similar would be great.

A few months back I tried a place called Vong's Thia kitchen on Hubbard.

I guess you could call it Thai and fusion Thia. I had the most amazing Salmon dish when I was there. Cool little upscale rest. and bar.

Erawan. It was opened recently (within the past year) and the chef trained at Aruns. It's in the 700 block of N. Clark (729). You can get the review off of metromix.com.

Richard & Racy,

Hey thanks for the quick response. Both places seem to fit the bill. Did enjoy the metromix reviews. Thanks again.

Want to sample the famous Thai-inspired French cuisine of Jean-Georges Vongerichten? And do it inexpensively? Check out Vong's 'Bamboo Express', a three-course lunch designed to be enjoyed within 30 minutes. Vongerichten uses more than 150 herbs and spices to create his 'explosively flavourful food'.

Joe:

There's also Le Coloniale on Rush -- not as great in the winter when the open-air dining isn't, but it;s fabulous French-inspired (haute) Vietnamese.

For cheap/good Thai, Singa is right across Clark Street from the Westin.

I would say Erawan -- Vong's had to re-concept as Vong's Thai Kitchen, and the buzz isn't as good. Also, it's a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant, and some of those don't take reservations.
