Please go back to my LONG list of your perjorative insinuative quotes. They aren't facts. They're bitter poison. I've been logging onto this thread to get updates about the superferry situation - in the hopes of riding the darn thing next month. But no info here - just hate. Your hate. Why don't you go hit a tree or something, and save this forum for useful exchanges of information?

I do not hate the Superferry.
I WANT THEM TO ADDRESS THE ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES.
Did I not provide the links to prove my statements about Superferry getting the exemption?
Did I not provide a link to prove that the Lingle Administration claimed that the Superferry was being singled Out for an EA and that they claimed no EA was ever required for the others?
Did I not provide a link that proved the others were in fact required to provide an EA? That the Lingle Administration had lied?
Did I not provide links that proved the Superferry has been fighting the requirement for environmental review for over two years?
I have provided a lot of info about the Superferry.
Why should they have the right to operate in Hawaii without regard to the environment? ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS ADDRESS THE ISSUES!!!!!!!!!
GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!!!!!!!
Or are you really that dense?

OK enough "personal" attacks on bruddah dusty. He has his opinions as we all have ours and he is entitled to his and should not be "personally" attacked because of it.
Just because someone has very strong feelings about some subject that does not match ours is no reason to personally attack the messenger because of his or her message.
What I love about this forum is that we can always agree to disagree about a subject and voice our opinions without the fear or possibility of "personal" attacks on one another. That is what Aloha really means.
I have had disagreements with dusty in the past but I do respect his opinions and appreciate his statements.
kauai aka,
The lounge is ruled now by about 10 liberal left wingers who "live" in the lounge and well......if you ever visit the lounge you know what I mean. The lounge is their home, lol.
Aloha Pumehana!!

Once again – please stop the yelling and name-calling. Providing info is great, though the Advertiser articles you linked to don’t nearly support your outrageous claims of corruption, bribery, and law-breaking. The articles do quote Sierra Club spokespeople and plaintiff attorneys CLAIMING that the project required an EIS. That’s what spokespeople and plaintiff attorneys do – make unsubstantiated and overly aggressive claims to support their cause. No court has required a full EIS, in fact the only court that ruled on an EIS found that there was no need for one. The Supreme Court, in order to review the case, is requiring an “environmental assessment” which is a much smaller and quicker (months not years) review process. It is true that they over-ruled the state in requiring the EA, it is also true (based on the articles you provided) that the state generally has a lot of latitude in determining which projects get an EA and which don’t.
Your articles describe nothing more than a lot of overly activist judges running rampant in Hawaii. Requiring that only two cars a minute leave the dock…despite a wide empty road in front of them? How’d he come up with the two car limit? Forcing an EA at the last minute despite having years to consider the issue? Another case of judicial malfeasance in my judgment. In fact the only sign of judicial intelligence in these cases is their decision NOT to force the superferry to sit idle while they make their late-to-the-ballgame EA decisions.
Where’s the link proving that Lingle lied? Where’s the link proving that the superferry made no attempts to “address the issues”? A quick survey of their website shows that they’ve thought through the issues extensively, and have designed their operating methods to suit.
Most importantly, where is any single shred of proof supporting your nasty claims of corruption, bribery, and criminal acts?
I’ve “gotten my facts straight”. You haven’t. So simmer down and stop filling these threads with your ridiculous conspiracy theories.

bobludlow, instead of relying on this thread that you do not agree with, why not search for your info elsewhere?
There's no reason to come here and start a brawl now is there? Why don't we talk about the endangered monk seal or about the home rentals and b&b's instead?

I don’t appreciate the swearing, Dusty. Cool it off before Fodor’s shut down the entire thread.
Let’s go through your outrageous statements one more time:
“Superferry had years to provide an EIS and didn’t. EIS is a requirement now.”
No court or government body has required an EIS for the ferry. The only court to rule on an EIS specifically found no need for it in this case.
“they have the politicians I their pocket”
Once again, you have shown absolutely no evidence that the superferry (a small start-up) “owns” any politicians. Yet you keep making the crazy claim.
“Much more is known now about problems caused by any new venture”
What the dickens are you talking about? New businesses cause problems? If they did, they wouldn’t last very long, would they? The only reason for a new business to exist is to solve someone’s problems – like all the people who want to visit neighbor islands using their own car, carrying more luggage without shlepping it around the airport and likely paying higher fees.
“The fact remains that if Superferry had not blocked all attempts to get it to adhere to regulations for the past several years, they would not be in this predicament.”
How in heaven’s name do you think a small start-up company “blocked” something that (in your mind) is an absolute requirement? That’s like me “blocking” the IRS. Is this another conspiracy theory of yours?
“Blame the greedy Superferry management for forcing the protesters to do what they did.”
Yep – you think the violence was okay. Not their fault at all. Honest, governer, the Superferry made me do it!
“An alternative interisland transportation method will be nice, but not at the expense of the environment.”
Well gee, then I guess we should shut down the airplanes, and the ships, and the cars…if they hurt the environment in any way shape or form we just can’t afford to have them around, can we?
“I do not hate the Superferry.”
This is my favorite. It ties so perfectly with your earlier statement:
“I hope the entire ferry gets scrapped”
