Summer in Fort Lauderdale

Considering a vacation to Fort Lauderdale in early June. Will it be beach weather or rain as Fodors suggests?

Having lived in South Florida for the last 25 years, I can tell you that the typical pattern for the summer, which is considered the rainy season, is sunny in the morning and then around 3:00, it clouds up, rains, and by 5 or 6 is sunny once again. Of course there are exceptions...but this is the typical pattern.

Great-would you still recommend a visit at this time? I think Miami or the Keys might just be too hot, and Florida is an easy flight on Jet Blue. Beach is an imp. part of the trip, and we were thinking of staying at Lago Mar.

Ft. Lauderdale isn't going to be any cooler than the keys and in fact, due to trade winds the keys may be a little cooler.

Weather in Florida in June: very hot, very humid, very sticky with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms daily.

Go but be prepared for HOT AND HUMID. Get up fairly early, enjoy some mid morning time on the beach. Go have lunch in the shade or in air conditioning. Stay off the beach and out of the sun and then the rain in the afternoon. Gear up for the evening when the breezes make it all wonderful.

In June the average high is 88 degrees and the average low dips no deeper than 74 degrees. It will be HOT and humid. Prepare for the 3 to 5 p.m. rain storms as the other poster noted. Keep in mind that it is also hurricane season at that time.

While early June is technically within the hurricane season, there's only a very minor chance one would appear that early, although after the past two years, all bets are off.
And don't be fooled by thinking "88? That isn't bad." A temperature of 88 when the humidity is 90% is a whole lot different than a dry 88.

Yes, it's hot, but I love it! Lago Mar is very nice--stayed there a few years ago. Marriott Harbor Beach is also excellent.
