we went to new hope several yrs ago. it is by far one of the biggest rip offs i have ever seen. the holiday inn is or was $150 and up per nite and the town is quaint but very crowded and touristy. Food in town was god awful!!!
One nice thing is the walks you can take along the canals. Good luck.

My husband and I spent a weekend in Lambertville in the beginning of March. We stayed at the Lambertville House Inn. We enjoyed our weekend immensely. The Inn is an historic Inn and our room was large with a whirlpool tub and a gas fireplace plus continental breakfast in the morning. We walked around Lambertville looking at the Victorian houses and ate at a nice restaurant. The next day we took a walk along the canal path, and then we crossed the bridge to New Hope. There are a number of nice galleries. We love to look at art but unfortunately we couldn't afford what we really liked. (If I end up with a spare 22K, I know what my husband will get for his birthday!) I could have easily spent more time in the area. There are some small wineries and of course the Mercer museum. And if I went in the summer I would love to bike along the canal path. Although I gather the summer is a lot more crowded. One note- it was only the third time my husband and I had been away from the kids overnight (in 14 years) so I guess anywhere would have been great!!

I found New Hope and Lambertville (immediately adjacent and you can walk everywhere within both towns quite easily) to be quaint but touristy. We spent a few hours one afternoon and stayed for dinner but I'd hesitate to recommend it as a destination for a longer stay, especially if it was time consuming to get there.

I also live in beautiful Bucks County. My husband and I bike up there quite often. It is a Harley Heaven. It is a gorgeous ride up 32 as one poster said. It is a great place to walk around, people watch, have lunch, brunch or dinner. Fall is our favorite time to bike up there. We also like to take in the plays at the Bucks County Playhouse.(not when we are on the bikes!) It is a historic, quaint, little town.

We went to New Hope last summer. It was awful! The sidewalks were so crowded with so many tourists, some had to walk in the streets. The stores sell crap, awful overpriced tourist junk.FLags to hang outside your home,Happy Face kind. The restaurants are packed & overpriced.Somewhere, behind all the tourist trap crap, there is probably a nice little town, but we didn't see it and believe me, we walked up and down that road and looked!
Then we drove over the river to the Antique area. That was ok if you want to look at tourist trap antique stores
Everything was overpriced!
Thanks but no thanks,New Hope was nice about 20 years ago.
