How late to see the Falls in Yosemite?

Hi from England!
I enjoyed a wonderful trip to Yosemite NP last October but obviously missed the Falls - I'm hoping to go again this year and need to know how late can I leave it in order to see the Falls at more than a trickle. I can only go in late August or mid September, otherwise I'll have to leave it til next Spring (May-ish). Any advice? Thanks

Jennie,
By August the falls are usually quite diminished. I've never been in October but I would imagine there's not a huge difference in them between Aug. and Oct.

But in May they are spectacular. Try to go then.

It depends on the snow pack and I don't think it was really big this year.

Spring is the best time! If you can, I would wait.

We were there 3 years ago during the first week of summer. Great time to go! The weather was perfect, but the hoards of people had not yet arrived. There were still patches of snow on the ground, but the temps were mild. The many waterfalls were flowing heavily and beautifully. I would wait till late spring if you can. Enjoy!!

Definitely wait for the spring thaw if you want to see the waterfalls.

Jennie: We visited Yosemite for the first time this past mid-May. Perfect timing. Wonderful waterfalls everywhere.

Have been in May and June and we are returning next year in mid May, and our reservations have been made for a month now. Definitely wait until spring, but if you want hotel accomodations for May 2003, it's time to call right now. Last time could hardly take photos of Bridalveil because the spray was so strong. Go to www.yosemitepark.com for reservations---make them today, they have a very liberal cancellation policy so you can cancel without penalty three days prior (I've done this and it works well) You won't need a/c in May. Yosemite is a very special place. Enjoy.

April is great too and you might find a better airfare as well.
