storing bags at Penn Station

Does anyone know if it's possible to store bags for a few hours at Penn Station? We are arriving on Amtrak and need to leave our bags and get to an appointment QUICKLY - not even enough time to get to our hotel and leave them there if our train is running late.

THANKS!

Go to the amtrak.com web page, click on the Stations link (in the orange bar at the top), enter the station code (NYP), then click on the link "Checked baggage hours." You'll have to show your Amtrak ticket.

My understanding is that you can store bags only if you are waiting to take an Amtrak train - not if you have just gotten off one. However, you can give thme a call and check.

Separately, not sure what train you are taking in - but you should realize that it;s not uncommon at all for the trains to be 15 or 20 minutes late - so if your timing is that tight you may want to consider taking an earlier train - they run very frequently.

Ditto to nytraveler's post. There's a place a few blocks away that will store luggage.

Why not take your bags to the appointment? I can't imagine why that would be a problem . . .

If you are taking a taxi be prepared to wait at Penn St. - there is often a long line and it doesn't move all that fast.

mclaurie, Thanks for the information. I am looking for a place near Penn Station to store luggage for a few hours, and your reply to keeks is a great help.
