Spas in the Northeast

I planning a long weekend spa vacation to celebrate my best friend's long third treatment for breast cancer. We live in MA and flying is not her favorite mode of transportation. We've been to some gareat spas and would like recommendtions for a great spa experience in the Northeast
Thanks,
Deb

I'll start you out on the "luxe" end, but boy, if this event doesn't rate it, what would? I've gone to Canyon Ranch in the Berkshires twice ('02 & '03, one week each time), and am desperately searching for time to go again. For me: Food was exceptional, tranquility off the charts, activities & spa treatments just superb, rooms lovely to fine, atmosphere & positive feelings huge.)
I know they run various weekend specials (mother's day was a big one, for instance) and shouldn't be too a bad trip, either.
Give your friend a hug from me! and good luck finding a great destination. Hope 3rd time's the charm!

I second Canyon Ranch. It is really outstanding. I've also heard that the New Age Spa in the Catskills is nice, but I haven't been.

I "third" Canyon Ranch; and you might tell them the reason for your visit...

IF you wanted to get out of mass, and price is not an object, check into the Mandarin Oriental in NYC, their spa is unbelievable
