Southwest Airfare deals
Right now they have $30/$60/$90 fares one way depending on distance but you must book by Midnight tonight. I believe AirTran & Frontier are also running deals. Sorry if this is a repeat post.

"For the same routes, all the airlines matched it."
Well, not my route (Burbank-Oakland). The best fare (except for the $81 total fare on Southwest) was $211 on U.S. Air. And what do you get extra on that flight on U.S. Air? A stop in Phoenix, and the flight gets you in Oakland 5 hours and 2 minutes after departing Burbank on a route that takes about an hour! Pass the peanuts!

I'm sure SW is out of the cheapest fares on some routes too, so just because it didn't work for you, your route or your date don't assume it's true for every other route. I compared few flights from TPA-ORD and both, SW and AA had non-stops available for a total of $231 R/T. Booked couple of R/Ts to ORD with AA.

Of course, if you check a bag, you've got to add $15 each way for AA and the others so the airlines haven't really "matched" Southwest's fare. $60 one-way with an extra $15 for a bag is a 25% surcharge.
I have some family and friends who want to fly soon but unfortunately, Southwest's sale covers only after Labor Day to before Thanksgiving... Bummer!

here we go again...
my airline doesn't do that or this...
All I wanted to do is post the simple information that all airlines matched it.
For many passengers UA may be better or AA or SW... who cares?
We personally don't have to pay the luggage fee, we usually get upgraded to F on this route, meaning priority boarding, free drinks, wines, free lunch on the outbound, free dinner on the inbound plus dessert and with 2 R/T, ~8K miles in the bank, good enough for almost 1/3 of a free domestic ticket.
So guess who I'm going to book?
I'm glad that SW came out shooting because it worked for me and I'm sure countless others with their own choice of an airline.
That's all I was trying to do here. Inform the people that come here looking for travel info.

Has nothing to do with "my airline doesn't do that or this." It has to do with it costing MORE (at least for the grunts like me who don't get upgrades and perks thanks to flying for work) on the other airlines than on Southwest due to things like bag fees. Gee, I can fly with two checked bags on Southwest for $60 or fly the same route on American for $100 with the "matched" fare. Guess which one I'll be flying with?

I didn't assume anything. I believe that's what you're doing here. I looked at my route (the only one I care about), and SW was $130 cheaper than the competition. Nothing less. Nothing more. So the "same routes" that you talked about did not apply to me.

Woo-hoo! Booked SFO to PHL with Southwest in September for $180 RT. No baggage fee, no blanket/pillow fee, no aisle seat/exit row/window seat fee, no check in at the airport fee (termed an on-line discount), no fee for water/soft drink/coffee. I'd been hoping for $99 each way. I'm a happy camper...er...flyer.

5 of us are waiting for him
