South Padre Island, TX hotels

My daughter is looking for a place to get married and honeymoon on South Padre.

What are some of the nicest hotels/resorts in the area?

Thanks

Bahia Mar and the Radisson are the better ones.

We won't be going during spring break. We'll be there the week between Christmas and New Year's Day.

The Bahia Mar got all really bad reviews on the SPI website. The Radisson got okay reviews.

The Sheraton got rave reviews. Has anyone stayed there?

Thanks again for responding.

I don't think there's a huge array of hotels no SPI because there are so many condos. We stayed at Saida Towers last yr. SPI is very nice but it can get very, very crowded from what we were told. It can take hrs to get across the bridge at those really busy times. Also, we went the week after Easter. Easter was late last year so the busy spring break time had passed but the beach was pretty messed up (lots of garbage and cigarette butts in the sand) from the long spring break season. They had a beach clean up day planned for just after we left. Just thought I'd mention this so they don't end up disappointed with their destination choice.

We go to SPI every other year and have never experienced the huge crowds or dirty beaches. Sounds like post-spring break issues only. It's a wonderful beach -- best in Texas.

Connie,
We always rent houses when we go down there and the realtor is Furcron. They also handle a lot of condo rentals. We've never been disappointed. Don't know about hotels, but they might be of some help on steering you in the right direction as well.

Thanks SaraLou and Jayne1973.

I'm going to look into condos so I appreciate the link and recommendation.

Hi,
Not sure if I got to this thread in time, but I recently completed a video program for a travel agency on SPI and had access to the most popular hotels and condos on the island. If you'd like, I can put small clips online for you to view. I am also working on a free "SPI travel guide" with the best hotels and restaurants, etc. If you are interested in seeing this guide and/or the videos, just send me an email at [email protected]

Good luck!
