Hello all:
we're arriving on sat morning, staying at hotel astoria in 510 bush st. if we take the BART from sfo should we go to montgomery station or powell station? and how far is it from this hotel? thanks
is it better to just take the supershuttle?

call your hotel and ask them what would be best.. with supershuttle, you go right to your hotel which is great if you don't know the area yet. You can always take the bart when you leave.

Don't take either. It's uphill and steep to Bush. Take Super Shuttle.

The poster asked about "we", so there are at least two people. Isn't the super shuttle $15 a person? Is a taxi any more than that? I just don't get taking the suppershuttle unless it's going to save you significantly. Nothing irritates me more than taking detours to other hotels on the way to mine.

But please correct me if I'm wrong about the price.

Patrick is right..spongiebob the website for SFO is www.flysfo.com.
Check the Ground Transportation section. They show a taxi from SFO to downtown SF is $37.00. That even with the tip would certainly be my choice.
Enjoy SF!

We always stay at Bush and Powell and walk from the Powell Bart station with our luggage without any problem--if you don't have a lot of luggage and are reasonably fit I don't see why it can't be done easily (looking at the map it appears as if the Montgomery Stn is closer to your hotel). If you're trying to budget there's a big difference between $5 per person and $37 plus tip.

Could be the royal we, no? The poster mentioned Supershuttle, don't know why he/she didn't mention a cab but can't imagine someone not considering it. I also can't imagine towing my luggage uphill to Bush and I'm in good shape. The hill is too steep.

Montgomery is flat, Bush is steep. 2 flat blocks, 2 steep blocks. It's your call. You can decide when you come in, how tired you are, how jetlagged, is it hot or cold or windy.

Don't look for "supershuttle", take the first shuttle going to the downtown area. I never make reservations coming to SFO.

Search the Internet for shuttle coupons, you may be lucky to get on that company's shuttle.
