OAK airport to Serrano Hotel at night
My husband and I will be arriving at the Oakland airport around 10:45pm, and are trying to figure out the best/safest way to get to the Serrano Hotel. I would think taking BART would be a fine option, but perhaps the walk from the Powell Street Station to the hotel would not be the best idea. Any suggestions/recommendations? Thanks for the help!

Safety alert: 405 Taylor Street @ O'Farrell. My dear, you don't want to be walking in this area at night!!
ANY shuttle from the airport to the hotel, don't know if it $25 per person or $35? Maybe I saw coupons on-line for $25?

Oh, and I hope your reservation is not from Priceline and you still have time to find something better. Did you read Trip Advisor reviews? Not the first 2, over-sugared, but the other, reasonably negative?

From what I know of the Serrano (I haven't stayed there but have picked up co-workers who stayed there for some SF meetings) - it is a very nice hotel on the edge of a REALLY iffy neighborhood. All the websites say "2 blocks from Union Square" but it is two blocks in the wrong direction. The hotel is on the very edge of the Tenderloin.
So 1) I would NOT take BART in Oakland at night. and 2) I would NOT take any sort of BART/Bus to that part of SF at night. So if you are staying at the Serrano - take a taxi or Super Shuttle and don't consider anything else.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I think we'll take a cab to the hotel. I did read the Tripadvisor reviews before booking the hotel, and thought the reviews were pretty good. Can't be that bad if it's ranked #56...plus I got a good price...$99/night.
