From San Francisco airport to hotel
What's the best way to get from SFO to Vintage Court Hotel near Union Square? I realize fast and inexpensive may not be the same thing so am open to all suggestions. We'll be arriving around 8:00 a.m. on a weekday if that matters.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Hi GODDESSOF3S, if you take BART into SF from SFO you would want to get off BART at the Powell St., BART station. When you get off of BART walk to the front of the train, go through the gates and go upstairs. You will be at Market and Powell. Turn left on Powell St., and walk up Powell, past Union Sq (on your right),go up two more blocks. Turn right on Bush and your hotel will be right there. Or take a taxi from SFO to your hotel (not sure of the cost of the fare). Or contact your hotel and ask if they have a shuttle bus that would pick you up at SFO and deliver you to your hotel. Have a wonderful time in SF!

LoveItaly has given you the best route IF you can manage your luggage. BART to Powell/Market and then to your hotel. But it is a six block walk slightly up hill the whole way. It isn't a bad walk -- but schlepping suitcases it could be a nightmare. Just depends on how much you have w/ you.
The problem w/ any mode by road (Shuttle, Cab, etc.) is that you are arriving in the middle of the morning commute and the traffic into SF from SFO will also be a nightmare.
For me the best would be BART and then hail a cab at Market/Powell -- but getting a cab during rush hour could take some patience.

You may wish to try the SuperShuttle, easy to catch outside baggage claim at SFO. It sorts passengers by destination, so you'd be on a vehicle with others going to Union Square. About $15/pp. If you're with a group larger than 2-3 it would be cheaper, and perhaps faster, to take a cab.

I agree with the Supershuttle recommendation if you have cumbersome luggage. It may be cheaper than a cab if there are just two of you. I believe, however, that you have to go up to the departure level to get SuperShuttle. Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
BART may in fact be the cheapest and fastest considering there may be normal commuter traffic into the city. I don't commute in so I'm not familiar with how heavy traffic into the city via 101 at that hour would be...

There are 3 main ways to get to a hotel:
BART and walk, as described above - cheapest
Taxi - fastest, most expensive
Shuttle - don't bother with reservations, don't wait for a super shuttle, just ask that uniformed guy outside which shuttle goes to the downtown SF area and hop on. They are all about the same price- and otherwise.

You are right--you do have to go to the departure level for the SuperShuttle. As stated if there are only 2 of you, it is cheaper than a cab. A cab will cost approx. $40 or more depending on traffic. Supershuttle was a fairly good, cheaper alternative before BART opened at SFO--for door-to-door it is still not bad. BART to downtown SF is much less expensive. BTW if you get off at Montgomery, the stop after Powell, Vintage Court is two blocks away.

Oh, wait, where IS Vintage court? I didn't look it up, SAB usually knows, it may be closer to Montgomery.
WHY IS EVERYBODY SO FIXED ON SUPER SHUTTLE? There are so many other good shuttle companies! And some of them have coupons on the internet.
