We were going on a cruise to Alaska and stayed precruise for two nights. We stayed at the Crowne Plaza for $85.00 a night through Hotwire. It was nice and well located. We took tram to Space Needle and visited the Experience Music Project which was really a neat place and rode the Duck Tour. Also walked to Pioneer Square and took the Underground Tour. Walked over to Pikes Market. I will say you will get plenty of exercise going up and down those hills. We love Seattle and would go back in a minute. In my opinion you don't need a rental car. The transportation system is very good.

Ted, I agree with your perception of Fairmont. Stayed at their hotels in New Orleans and San Francisco and swore NEVER AGAIN. I hope they don't ruin the Olympic over time as well.

Is the property in San Francisco the one with the Tonga Room? I thought my son might enjoy this when he goes to SF to see a football game next month. I've heard the rain and thunder show is really fun!! ***kim***
