Scenic route Providence, RI to Windsor Locks, CT

We would like to take the scenic route from Providence to Windsor Locks, CT. It would be on a Sunday morning, so not sure what would be open, but could you recommend what roads to take. Thanks!

US 44 is very scenic and pleasant, except on schooldays when the buses are out!

Definitely agree with the recommendation of US 44. Very scenic but slow. I use it to go to Providence quite a bit. Will bring you right past the UConn campus. There is an excellent restaurant on here (in Manchester) called Pastrami on Rye. Open for Breakfast as well. There is also Shady Glen which is for Ice Cream

Sorry about my previous post. I put it into Google Maps and pasted the link. Guess HTML doesn't work too well here...but the link does work

Anyone know of a good place to eat Sunday lunch in Windsor Locks? We are picking up a friend at train station and then heading out to NW CT.

Well - that was the rub! We stopped at Pickleworks in Windsor Locks because it was so close to train station and one of my friends LOVES pickles. We got there about 12:30 on Sunday - only to find out that they only serve breakfast on Sundays. So, it was not great since we were ready for lunch - but it worked out. The ride was really pretty and so much better than being on the interstate!
