Scenic Route Westchester County, NY to Madison, CT

Can anyone please suggest a scenic route from Westchester County, NY to Madison, CT?

I don't mind driving part of the way on 95, but it would be nice to take in some scenery for as much of the trip as possible.I can also take the Hutch or the Merritt.

We will leave Westchester mid week (Wednesday) and are flexible about what time of day we leave.

Any suggestions and ideas are appreciated!

I think the Merritt is your best option. 95 is less scenic, and Rt 1 is impossibly slow and even less attractive.

Where in Westchester?

If you don't mind a longer, rambling ride [ 3 hours ] you can head into Ridgefield CT [several ways to do that == 684 to Rt 35 or Rt 22 to Rt 121 to Rt 35].

From Ridgefield, to Redding to Shelton to New Haven to North Branford to Madison.

There are several routes that are non highway, depending where you are in Westchester.

I 95 to Rt 7 to 107
137 to 124 to Rt 7 [Stamford from Merritt, thru Pound Ridge]
106 to 123 ]New Canaan to Rt 35 via Lewisboro]
106 to 7 to 107

Use google maps, check "Avoid highways" and zoom in a bit to see the various roads.

I lived in Northern Westchester for 2 decades, there are lots of local road options. There could be traffic, construction etc, but it won't be I95 or even the Merritt for most of the way.
