Savannah or Charleston for a long weekend?

Both are great towns with live music and great food, but if you had asked me last year I would have suggested Charleston b/c its bars and restaurants are smoke-free while Savannah's bars (and even the airport) still had indoor smoking. But Savannah just implemented a smoke-free law Jan. 1st, so now it is a much more pleasant destination for people who don't like respiratory problems and smelling like an ashtray during vacation.

Wanted to bring this back up and share we ended up booking Santa Fe for a long weekend - I know it is not either of these but decided on that - as I have never been and it has been 20 plus years for Mom - but these are still on my short list!

Savannah is my favorite and we go to both frequently. The food is better in Charleston but the squares in Savannah are great for relaxing.
