Santa Fe, New Mexico---nice b&b or hotel close to the plaza

My husband and I are going for a quick get away next week to Santa Fe. He loves golf, I love shopping. Do you know of a nice place to stay that I can walk to the plaza and the shopping areas while he takes the car to the golf courses. Price range up to $300.
Thank you in advance.

El Farolito is our favorite: http://www.farolito.com/home.htm. It's a 10 minute walk to the Plaza. We've also stayed in and liked Inn on the Alameda: http://www.innonthealameda.com/.

You shop while your husband plays golf.... I don't know where he's planning to play, but I think you're getting the better end of the deal here. ;-)

I recently stayed at the Old Santa Fe Inn. I have a review on trip advisor that may be helpful:

I found a cheaper rate online at hotels.com than their website, so it pays to shop around.

We stayed at the Inn of the Governor's when were in Santa Fe.
It is within walking distance to the Plaza and shops. The Georgia O'Keefe museum is also within walking distance. The Inn of the Governor's has a great breakfast included in the rate and there is also a cute restaurant there.

Golf next week could be tricky - it is the beginning of spring aka windy season here. It is beautiful today [sunny and mid 60's] but it has snowed the last two weekends, so be prepared.

This is pretty last minute, I would call hotels directly and ask for special deals/prices. Then I would think about priceline. Inn on Alameda, Inn of the Governors, La Fonda all great choices.

Would you be interested in a casita near plaza?

Here is an old thread, where I have posted some vrbo's that are really nice, less $$ [more to shop with!].

There is also discussion on that thread about prices and places to stay.

We stayed at the La Fonda Hotel last year and it was great. It is right on the plaza with shopping right out your door. I don't remember the exact price, but I believe around $300.00. www.lafondasantafe.com.
