Taos/Santa Fe accommodations

My husband and I will be headed to New Mexico in early September. We have reservations for the El Pueblo in Taos and the Old Santa Fe Inn in Santa Fe. Any comments (good or bad) on either place is appreciated. It sounds like they are both walking distance to the plaza - is this true?
Thanks
Sue

El Pueblo is okay, nothing fancy or new but clean and comfortable. However, it is NOT within walking distance of the Plaza. They allow pets, so I would be sure to ask for a "NON pet room".
Dont' know about Old Santa Fe Inn.

Hope this helps...

I never stopped, but remember walking by Old Santa Fe Inn many times when we were there last fall. It's a fairly new, nice enough looking place, a little reminiscent of a 40's - 50's road trip kind of motel, but with that SW adobe architecture. And it is within walking distance from the place, probably about five minutes.
