Well, we have totally changed our plans since my last post. Our dates were changed, so I cancelled El Monte and made reservations at Encantado. Going next week. I'll report back when I get home. Really looking forward to our stay!

As I write this, Encantado is currently in a state of major construction. I visited this past week and there were at least 100 workers, bulldozers, earthmovers, you name it.
I was shocked at how un-private the place is. The website gives one the impression that it is made up of small casitas with lots of privacy. On the contrary, it is a huge, mega-complex. While most of the rooms have views of the distant mountains, they also look out over multiple parking lots.
I, myself, would not stay there. I don't care how "fancy" or "exclusive" it claims to be. The only reason to stay at this place would be to rub elbows with others who are willing to toss their money to the wind.
