San Francisco Fishermans Wharf Hotel

If ever I suffered from "too much information" when planning a trip, this is it! Want to stay 2 nights in San Francisco. Have a car but want to find a hotel with a place to park it and walk and use street cars to explore the city. I think we want to stay in Fisherman's Wharf, looking for clean hotel in the best location. It would help if I knew what the "best location" was, but that is why I am asking for your help! View unimportant, won't spend much time in the room. Just want to be able to get around easily. Thanks!

oops, forgot to say, price is a medium factor. Don't want to spend $300 a night, hoping for under $200. Can't use priceline, etc cuz we have a child with us and need 2 beds and can't specify that when using those services. I would even be willing to stay in a Travelodge type of place if the location was good!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn - Fishermans Wharf last spring. There are actually two of them right across the street from each other . . I think we stayed in the Express, but not sure.

Rooms were ab out what you would expect in a Holiday Inn, but then we were only in it to sleep. It's close to the Wharf area and had underground parking ( fairly expensive as I recall ) We liked the area and were out and about dailey. Favorites were Alcatraz and the half day Greyline feux trolly (bus actually, made up to resemble a trolley . . faintly)

We spent four days in SF then went out to Sonoma/Napa for three days.

Enjoy . . Rich

Oh . . and it was well under $200, including underground parking.

Try the Columbus Motor Inn, near the Wharf. Heard about it here, and it was perfect for us.

FREE enslosed parking on site, the bus stop was RIGHT outside the door, and we got a good rate thru AAA. Be sure to ask for a 3rd floor room with a view, and away from the alley -- the garbage guy isn't too quiet lol

Have fun. We loved SF!
