Laurel Inn San Francisco

Has anyone stayed here? It looks nice on the web site and has free parking. I'm not interested in being in the Union Square area, but would like to explore Union Street and Sacramento Street. Thanks.

Yes, my husband stayed there about a year ago for a business trip. He really liked it and just recently made reservations to stay there again. It's rare to find a hotel in SF that has free parking and so close by (most places have a lot that's a couple blocks away). My husband also liked this hotel because there is a good restaurant/bar just across the street.

Is Laurel Inn on the corner of California/Presidio? If so it maybe not the best choice now - there is a large construction site right across, JCC site. But I'm not sure where exactly the Inn is, double-check it!

Similar in style and price, also with private, free, and indoor parking is the Cow Hollow Motor Inn on Lombard at Steiner. There are several more in the area by the same people -- Chelsea Motor Inn I believe is one. Adjacent to the Cow Hollow Motor Inn and owned by them is the very upscale Cow Hollow Suites, full sized beautifully furnished apartments available for 5 nights or more. A large one bedroom apartment which is wonderful will cost around $200 a night, but well worth it. It also provides underground parking with a keyed access elevator to these 12 individual apartments. The front door opens out onto Chestnut street, scene of trendy shops and lots of nice restaurnats. Oh, and there's even a Victoria's Secret right downstairs!

Thanks for the info about the construction. I won't be there until
Feb.(Pres.weekend). Is it really horrible? The Cow Hollow suites sound great, but we will only be there 2 nights. I'll check out the other places.

I think I was wrong. I just looked at the brochure I still have from the Cow Hollow Suites and it doesn't say anything about a minimum stay. But there is a 10% discount for over 5 nights, so apparently you can stay for less!

The earlier poster is correct- there is a big construction site right across the street from the Laurel Inn. Almost the entire block has been demolished. The construction workers probably don't work late in the evening and early in the morning, so it might not bother you. If you do end up staying there, there is a great restaurant nearby called Ella's. Terrific breakfast, but get there early.

Laurel Inn will allow you to explore Sacramento Street, and yes there is a very large construction project across the street and it does not look as though it will be close to finished by February. On the other hand you will be staying in a non tourist area and a very nice neighborhood.
