San Diego - Island Palms Hotel - Shelter Island

Stayed at Island Palms last year & thought it was a very good value.
The Shelter Island location is excellent for doing San Diego. It is 5 min from the airport & Shelter Island has an awesome view of the city skyline, though Island Palm rooms don't have big views. Shelter Island is a great place to walk & you are 15 min easy drive down Harbor Blvd to the city & embarcadero. I specifically stay in Shelter Island when I travel to San Diego, and I know SD very well having lived there for 30 yrs.

Thanks - sounds like what we are looking for and have booked a cancellable suite at a decent rate for 5-day family trip to San Diego (not Long Island, although I grew up in NJ and have been to Shelter Island, NY). We like to stay someplace where I can go walk in the AM and since we have a 7 AM flight the day we leave - airport proximity will be great. thanks again.
