San Diego Airport

I've tried to look up the normal price for payphones at an airport and everyone has different answers and if you use your credit care it's a lot more. Has anyone used the payphones for San Diego airport? I'll have only about 40 dollars on my card but i'd rather use change. Anyone know the rates of how much it is a minute? I don't have a cellphone and i'd need to use the payphones to call my b/f who lives in San Diego.

Oh and possibly another question if anyone knows? Is the baggage claim area where you get picked up? Or do you have to go back upstairs I think I read on a site?

The rates will depend how far from the airport you are calling. I doubt it will be more than a dollar or two.

If I remember right the last time I was there you only go upstairs to cross over to the parking garage. If they are circling around you walk directly out from the baggage claim.

If you are going to the parking area, you cross over a bridge. If they are picking you up, they meet you in front of Baggage Claim.

You can walk out directly out from the baggage claim. I believe there are telephones near that area as well. So you can call your friend before the bags start to come. It's a small airport.

Can he pull up right to the curb and stop for a few minutes? Or would the person picking me up have to park in the parking lot?

He can't stop unless you are there and actively loading the car. He can slow down, look for you, then circle around again if you aren't out there yet. It is a small airport. Tell him you will wait under the sign for your airlines and you will be fine. ( The signs hang down from the outside roof)

Click on the link below for the google view: use the little arrows in the circle to move along the route he'll drive. pull the "N" around the circle to look behind you. Those green signs have the airline names on them.

I used the pay phone to make a call to La Jolla when I was there in March. The call lasted about 5 minutes and was only 50 cents.

Thanks for the help lcuy and traveler. So you're saying for sure that there are payphones travelerfromtx? I had someone else tell me from another forum that they're there every 3 weeks and never seen any but they must not have been looking for em since they didnt use them. Well that helps a lot considering I dont have much money and I didnt want to spend $20 on a prepaid phone I'm going to use once or twice.

oh okay I didnt see that when I was looking on the site. I guess my only concern is how much it would cost cause I have only about 4 dollars in change, but i'll take travlerfromtx's word since he was there in March.

Well I dont know how much collect calls are for the person I'm calling so I dont want them getting charged however much. Plus some payphones do block 800 numbers.
