San Antonio riverwalk hotels

Hi There,

I tried to book at the Watermark and LaMansion on the riverwalk because I liked the layout and atmosphere of those two choices as opposed to some of the other high-rise, corporate style hotels on the riverwalk. Both of those were booked solid for the time period I was trying to get.

Can anyone suggest other choices along the riverwalk that would be similar in style to either the Watermark or LaMansion?

I understand where you are coming from on this, I feel the same way. I don't think there are any other choices similar to Watermark or La Mansion. There is an Amerisuites on the riverwalk which was built in a renovated warehouse, and has good reports, but I wouldn't expect it to be as much a full-service hotel.

There is another historic hotel just a block or two away from the riverwalk, I think it is Hotel Menger?

Good luck with your search. There are some old thread here that might help if you look using the search box.

I lived in San Antonio for several years. The Menger Hotel would be the closest style of hotel you are looking for. It is a large old up-scale hotel which is one block from the riverwalk. I have friends who have stayed there who loved the hotel. I would classify the Menger as a "grand hotel" but not the "grandest" hotel you might find.

I really like the Marriott on the Riverwalk. I know it's a high rise corporate hotel, but you can't beat those balconies overlooking the whole Riverwalk area!

There's another unique hotel called the Havana Riverwalk Inn located on Navarro Street. It has a 1920's flair to it and there just 27 rooms.

I thought of one more...another recent addition by the name of Hotel Valencia. For more information check out http://www.hotelvalencia.com/

There is a huge meeting in town May 21-26 if by chance that is when you will be here.

Thank you all for your suggestions. It turns out we will be in town during the Cinco de Mayo celebration. At the urging of our local friends in SA, we booked at the Hilton Palacio del Rio.

We wound up at the Hilton Palacio after trying to reserve LaMansion (last Nov.) It turned out much better than we thought. It is on the other end of the "busy" part of the riverwalk from LaMansion, so it's a great location. We loved our balcony overlooking the river, and the direct access to the Riverwalk.
While LaMansion did look wonderful, we were very happy at the Hilton.
