San Antonio on New Year's Eve

We're thinking of staying on the Riverwalk for NYE, and I was wondering about the festivities. Will there be fireworks at midnight? Where's the best place to ring in 2007? Thanks in advance for any info.

Hi P_M,

Yes, there will be fireworks, live music, a free party downtown for one and all! ...though why I can't find a link for this is beyond me. I will keep searching, I found it awhile back for another poster.

I believe the Alamo Bowl is scheduled for 30 December so be warned, downtown may be jammed with football fans.

Well, that's nice...the link I provide is not working properly so just go over to the left hand side of the page and select 2006 Major Events. How it is that the city neglects to include my birthday every year is beyond me. ;-)

Actually, it's in January...lost in translation again! ;-)

I read in the paper today that UT is playing in the Alamo Bowl--should be fun and exciting if you're a football fan!

Funny you should mention the Alamo Bowl, DH would very much like to see that. Maybe we'll stay 2 nights in SA so we can go to the game on the 30th.

I hope your upcoming 29th birthday in January is a great one.

If y'all are into music and/or dancing, I believe the San Antonio Symphony is having a Benny Goodman big band-style tribute show, with a dance floor, on December 30th at the Convention Center. On New Year's Eve, they're doing something called "A Night in Old Vienna," which I hear is also going to include dancing. That one's also at the convention center.

The symphony's website is www.sasymphony.org. You might want to call for more details.
