Salt Lake to Moab - Quick Stop
Sorry about the double post. Forgot to tag it.
If planes are on time (ha!!) to SLC, we're hoping to get to Arches NP in time to get in Delicate Arch for sunset.
I'd like make as quick a stop as possible en route to pick up some water and snacks.
Any suggestions where?

Myer, when we drive to Moab from SLC we usually only stop is Price (about 1/2 way). You don't say what time you get in, but given traffic along the Wasatch Front, I wouldn't stop until Spanish Fork at the earliest. There are a bunch of convenience stores and probably a supermarket (Smith's) at the Spanish Fork exit off I-15, where you hook into highway 6 to go to Moab. Have fun!

katyslc,
Thanks.
We're schedule to arrive from two different places at 12:30. Hopefully on time.
It will be a Wednesday so we shouldn't have ruch hour traffic or weekenders.
Spanish Fork looks like a logical place to stop since we change roads.
Is there anything directly off the road in Price?
Thanks.

katyslc,
I just looked up Smith's and it appears to be way below the #6 cutoff.
However, there's an Alberstons at N 800 East and Extra Mart at Chappel Dr that both appear to be very close to #6.
Do I read this correctly and is there an issue getting off #6 at either of these?
Thanks.

Hi, Myer....I'm not sure about the street name where you get off I-15 and onto Highway 6, but I know there are multiple stop/snack options on the left after you get off the freeway and are headed up Spanish Fork canyon. The Price business loop has TONS of options, or also just-off the the freeway choices.
If time allows, which it may not, one of our favorite food stops in Price is Farlainos -- a classic main street diner; I will look up the address and post in another message.
Since Highway 6 is essentially two lanes it's not an issue hopping off whenever you want. Be careful, too, it's one of the most dangerous stretches of road in Utah!
It's good you're leaving early afternoon -- even on a Wednesday traffic along I-15 really picks up starting about 3:00. Take care,
katy

katyslc,
Thanks. Good info.
We're not looking for a lunch stop. The priority is to get to Arches safely in time to get started on day 0 (zero).
If we get there early enough we'll visit Delicate Arch by far the first choice. If not it'll be Park Avenue.
I'd like to pick up a case or two of water and some snacks. A quick pit stop.
We'll keep our eyes open as soon as we get onto #6 and if not then at Price.
Thanks again.

Any gas station should have water and snacks. And it would be quick as you'll probably have to stop anyway to fuel up once. I'm sure you'll find something near Green River. If you need bigger quantities of water or snacks, why not get that in Moab after your hike once it gets dark?
Personally I wouldn't buy a couple cases of water, it's just so wasteful. Just buy a couple big bottles and refill them every day, or bring your own empty containers from home. There are several places in Arches where you can refill water bottles (visitors center, trailhead for Devils Garden, and near the campground by Devils Garden). Might be more but that was enough for me.

Myer,
I usually stop at the Maverick's gas station/convenience store in Helper just out of the canyon (heading east). It's a quick stop and the folks are nice. Usually my pit stop!
Take plenty of water handy in the car with you into all the areas around Moab. The only places to refill in Arches are at the Visitor's Center and the Devil's Garden, that's it. Do you have a Camelbak?
