This is what worries ALL of us FOR you. I do wonder if the bus doesn't at least try to wait for the Charleston bus, but who knows if you could get the correct information from a desk clerk.
One possibility might be when you get to Charleston, go to the bus station and inquire in person if you will "probably" make that connection.
Sue, would another possibility be for her to inquire at the main visitors' center for information they might have.
So, if they say they can't guarantee it, have a "plan B" in mind--more time in Charleston or fly on to wherever you are leaving for home. What after the SC coast?

They may know at the Visitor's Center but I wouldn't count on it. No one really knows.
I know you don't want to drive, but these are easy drives. You could go at your own pace and not be stressed about making connections. Public transportation is NOT like it is in Europe. I just got back and the efficiency of the trains and buses boggled my mind. So consider it. You can always rent a car and turn it in if you can't stand it.

Sue: The OP earlier said she cannot rent a car, which sounds correct at 20. Correct me if I'm wrong.
If the OP absolutely has her mind set on Wilmington, perhaps one option is to make a cheap motel reservation that is cancellable in MB. If she misses the bus, spend a day in MB and pick up the bus the next day. I'd probably just stay extra in Charleston... or leave earlier for NY and spend more time there before going home.
Agree that flying into Savannah, taking the train to CHS is her best option.

Maybe I'm mistaken about rental car laws, but I believe Sharon (20) is too young to rent a car. My recommendation would be to just enjoy more days in Charleston and Savannah. Beaufort, SC would be another idea if you want a charming coastal town and there are 2 (direct, no transfer) Greyhound buses a day there from Savannah (none from Charleston though).
Best wishes, Daniel

I am thinking about flying to Wilmington. it will be very expensive compared to taking the bus, but if I have to pay an hotel because I get stuck in myrtle beach it will bus just as expensive. and I dont want to lose a day in wilmington, I am only there for 2 full days... I had hoped to see a little less airport, but it seems there is no other way to get to Wilmington without taking a bus...

Hey, Sharon.
Lots of great advice above, but as a Charlestonian whose visited Wilmington a few times, I've got to agree with some of the posters above about skipping Wilmington.
It's an OK town, but I think you'll be disappointed with the city after visiting both Charleston and Savannah.
You mentioned that one of the main reasons (if not THE main reason) for going to Wilmington is to see some of places where the TV show is filmed, but then you said you may not even get to some of the houses b/c they'd be too much out of the way.
For all the extra trouble and time that you're trying to work through just to get to Wilmington, my advice is to spend an extra day or two in Charleston. There's LOTS to see and do here! It would be so much more enjoyable and relaxing than spending hours on buses/trains/planes. I'd seriously consider it.
Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be fun and an adventure for you!
Please let me know if I can help with any Charleston ideas/info.
Have fun!
Robbie

Well, it's going to be about $200, and surprisingly even with a change in Charlotte, about 3 hours! The wonders of travel. HOWEVER, there will be the expense and time to get to and from both airports. Don't underestimate the time for checkin. Fortunately the Charleston airport is not overly large.
As for Chuck's observation you might not see them all, the list is HUGE (who knew, as I said) so it would be "enough". ONly you can say if it is worth it--you should write the show and tell them what a fan you are.
