Best way to travel from Sacramento to San Francisco by train. In SF staying block off Union Square. Amtrak to Bus in Emeryville? Amtrak to BART?
Thanks.

I'd just go to Emeryville and use the Amtrak bus into the city. Could not be easier.

The best way is by bus, Amtrak bus will be waiting for you in Emeryville to take you to the city. Make sure you got a correct ticket, as not all buses make all stops. There is a stop Market@4th, check Amtrak website. Usually the drivers don't like to drive in the city, so they announce on the bus: I'll stop at Embarcadero only unless your destination ON THE TICKET is different.

This is a very old thread so anyone know if there are any updates on travel to SFO from Sac by train??

I checked out the bus from Emeryville and it looks like you cant just take the bus - have to book a train segment.

Is there a station where you could pick up BART??

San Francisco - Sacramento = train.

From Emeryville there is an Amtrak bus waiting for you at the station.

Not sure if you can go all the way to SFO... maybe bus to San Francisco Embarcadero, and there is about 1 block walk to the BART station to go to SFO.

There is a stop in Richmond to switch to BART, but if safety is a concern, better go to the city, and BART to SFO from there.

Another thought... check SFO website "ground transportation". There must be a bus or a shuttle from Sacramento to SFO.
