San Jose - Gilroy area public transport

Hello, after searching the Internet still can't figure out if there is any public transport from SF or SJ to Gilroy. Amtrak has a connecting bus going there at 4 pm. Caltrain has something on weekdays only. Any public trasportation to/from Gilroy on weekends?

Yes, there is public transportation on the weekends. The trip will take a little while, but you can get there. Caltrain runs on the weekends from SF to SJ. Currently the service may be by bus on the weekends due to track maintenence, but there is service. Then VTA bus #68 runs from the SJ Caltrain station down to Gilroy. This bus takes about 1:30 hours to get from SJ to Gilroy since it has stops all along the way.

Since Caltrain has buses running on the weekends, it would be faster to take Amtrak to San Jose and then catch the 68 at the train station in Center City down to Gilroy as J Correa has said.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!

How did I manage to miss bus 68 on VTA website is beyond me

Looking at the map of this route it maybe even more convenient for me to take BART from home to... I'll figure it out where it connects with Caltrain, then a short trip to SJ, and the bus.

FainaAgain,

BART is also a great option. You can take the 180 Express bus from the Fremont BART station to the San Jose Diridon train station. The trip will take about 40 minutes.

"Watson", why did your screen name change between posts? Did fodors delete one? You have extra space bar lines in the second name...
