Restaurants near The Met?

Hi, I'm taking a train in from NJ tomorrow and am meeting a friend from Seattle at the Met. We're going to have lunch, too. Is this (80s between Lex and Fifth) a neighborhood with restaurants, or is it more residential? Nothing fancy, just sushi or thai or similar.... thanks.

This area is primarily residential and upscale shopping. For a choice of casuale dining you really need to walk over to 3rd ave or even 2nd - or take the crosstown bus to the west side.

What is open on Mon. is MOMA.org There's good, inexpensive eating near there.

Sorry, I now realize you posted yesterday and are probably well on your way or already there. Sorry. If you're still reading, Caffe Grazie is not a bad option on 84th st. off Fifth ave. (although a tad pricey). There's a good coffee shop on Madison & 82 st., Nectar.
