We checked out the Spotted Dog and we preferred the dining room the Switchback Grille.
The Grille also has an exhibition kitchen which lets you observe that the chefs know what they're doing and the dining room has huge windows onto a great view.

I completely forgot about the Switchback Grille. We ate there about three years ago and had a great meal. We are planning on staying three nights at The Desert Pearl so will be able to sample a lot of these restaurants. Again, many thanks for all the advice. My husband will have a wonderful 65th!

Hi Katstony,
We've also eaten at the Switchback Grille several times and enjoyed it a lot. Once was with 4, out of state, guests and we were all pleased with the ambiance, service and food.
Enjoy,
Randi

Pizza and Noodle was great but it sounds like you want something a lot nicer. It's very casual but highly recommended for another meal.
Most national park lodges have nice dining rooms and pretty good food. Their website has a link to their menu and a reservation number.
