Springdale Dining/Restaurants
Will be visiting the area over Memorial Day weekend 2006 and would appreciate recommendations for our 3 nights of dinners. Cost not as important as value. Appreciate good food and service in a relaxing atmosphere. I don't expect much of a wine list in Utah! (We will be coming in from NV. Does anyone know the local policy of bringing wine to dinner??)

Hi MS,
My favorite place in Springdale is the Zion Pizza and Noodle. It's just super casual, great pizza and pasta and decent wines by the glass.
You can bring your own bottle into a restaurant in UT and they will open it for your for a "corkage fee". Sometimes they will not charge the fee. However, the bottle MUST have a UT state liquor seal on it, meaning you bought it in UT and paid the taxes! You can also take your opened bottle home with you.
I tried to eat at the Spotted Dog last Friday night, but their service was so bad I walked out. I did notice that their wine prices were outrageous.
Good luck and have fun! Be sure to do the Riverwalk, the beautiful Columbine flowers will be in full bloom, plus all the others.

By the way we also learned in Utah that if you're drinking wine by the glass (or beer) and you order another one, they can't or won't bring you the new one until the old one is finished. No one is supposedly allowed to have two drinks in front of them.
Be sure to get some berry pie. What do they call it -- Bumbleberry?

Tovarich, I remember that Chinese restaurant too! We ate there while we were doing our laundry at the laundromat up the street, because I had insisted that we do our two-week Southwest vacation with a carry-on each. By golly, we did that, but before we flew home to D.C., we went to a FedEx place and mailed home a big box of all the extra stuff we bought.
That Chinese food was terrific, and we managed to have leftovers for breakfast the next morning on the balcony at the Desert Pearl -- oh, I want to be THERE!
