We are staying at Charleston Place Hotel for 2 nights.
I would like to make reservations for lunches or dinner at Fig, Husk, Magnolias and Cypress.
Are they in the historic area within walking distance from the hotel?

Have you Google mapped them? They all look very close to your hotel to me.

Yes, they r -- I suggest u make reservations in advance. We were in charleston this past Fall and couldn't get anything at Husk and only odd times at a few other places.

We had lunch at a place called Blosson and it was wonderful. Near the historic district.

Breakfast/Lunch at the Hominy Grill should be included in your stay. It's a car ride from your hotel, but well worth it.

There has been some buzz here that Husk may not be as great as it thinks it was.

Husk is not easy to acquire reservations. It's a great restaurant. Charleston Grill at your hotel and Peninsula Grill across the street are two of the best in the city. McCrady's and High Cotton are fun too. Enjoy your visit.

FIG is really excellent and within walking distance of your hotel. See if you can get a reservation there for sure.

If you can't get dinner reservations at Husk, try to go at lunch. If that doesn't work, you might be able to get a table in the bar. It's a neat old building. The menu is a little different from the restaurant.

All the ones you mentioned, including Blossom are within walking distance of the hotel.

You can't choose a carriage ride unless you book a private one. You just show up t the corner of Market and Anson, and get in line. The city works them on a lottery system so that all the carriages aren't on the same street at the same time. All are good.

Right next to the carriage line is Anson restaurant. I really like that one too.

I haven't been to the restaurants mentioned, but the best meal I had in Charleston was at SNOB.

We recently returned from Charleston. We ate at SNOB (Slightly North of Broad) and Husk. We had a wonderful meal at SNOB--good service, great food--couldn't have been better. Husk was a huge disappointment. I had eaten there about a year ago for lunch and really enjoyed it, but after this most recent experience, I won't return. From the thimble-sized serving of wine (by the glass--and $15) to the loud loud atmosphere (I have to admit, there was little the management could have done about the obnoxious table of seven next to us) to the good-but-not-all-that awesome food, the dining experience was not what we'd hoped for.
