restaurant near Excelsior Hotel NYC

Need dinner places...moderate price if possible. I know we can find bagels, etc. but it's the evening meal I am worried about.I have a medical problem with Asian and soy sauce..otherwise we are open. Both of us are foodies...thanks again for all the advice here.

In that area have a look at Isabella's for Italian and Ocean for seafood. You can also check out menupages.com for other choices by neighborhood and cuisine - along with actual menus/prices and diner reviews.

You can look in the west 70's or the west 80's, since the hotel is on the border.

Actually, the new restaurant in the Excelsior, Eighty-one, is very good, if a bit pricey. We also like Nice Matin in the Lucerne Hotel on 79th Street, The Mermaid Inn up on Amsterdam and 87th St.

Dovetail on Columbus and 77th Street is excellent - probably one of the top 3 or 4 on the Upper West Side. On Broadway and83rd there is Ouest. Further downtown you might like Telepan.

You can also use http://nymag.com/restaurants/?f=food for reviews
