Thanks, Orchid. We were going to stay at the Kamaole Sands but switched to the Kaanapali Shores. I think we'll be happy we did. It sounds like a great place.

OH MY GOSH! I am sooooo thrilled to find this conversation going on!!!! I hope you all are still checking in!!
We are trying to book Maui for next May....to celebrate our 25th....and are taking our 4 wonderful children! ages 22,19,16 and 11. I am soooooooo torn! We stayed at the Alii MANY years ago...like...19 or 20!!! It was wonderful! But our travel agent keeps pushing us towards the K Shores. In fact she has a two-bedroom garden view unofficially booked for us til the 4th. I have to do some serious researching this weekend. I just don't know how COMMERCIAL the Alii area has gotten.(meaning S. Kaanapali) I don't want high traffic etc...we could go visit Long Beach for that scene!!! But is the Shores TOO far removed?? Is it awful to have to pile into the car to go DO anything??? Is there ANYTHING to DO in the area?? I have heard it's windy?
Also..in one of the Shore's websites the beach looks AWFUL!!!! Rocky and narrow. Someone also said the water has a lot of coral?? We aren't into LOTS of beach sitting/swimming...but...you know..you want it nice right where you are.
I know I'll have more questions..I hope those who have been there recently are still here! Thanks in advance! Lori
