Have never stayed in a Residence Inn that wasn't pleasant, clean and with good breakfast....but this was one of the very first Rez Inns and I've heard that it is in need of renovations.

I'm sure it's fine, but not if you're real fussy.

A friend stayed here. To call it La Jolla is quite liberal on their part and it is definitely in need of renovations...It was clean though and had a large breakfast if I recall correctly. If you are looking to be in the thick of things though you should not stay here...

if i recall, the residence inn has some decent restaurants around but it is next to the freeway. very convient for accessing freeway 5 which will take you most places in the city. about 1 miles from a large mall. but, do not let the address of la jolla deceive you. it's is a 5-10 minute drive to the coast and the center of la jolla.

We stayed there 2 years ago and it was fine. Clean, slightly showing its age, but we had no issues. We were there a week in a 2 bedroom unit. 5 minutes to LaJolla main area and easy on/off to SeaWorld, Mission Bay, etc...

Reading Trip Advisor because we are considering going back to San Diego over Xmas. Bad, bad reviews. I did call the hotel directly and they have replaced all of their bedding with the new ultra bedding. No other renovations have been done.

Hope this helps...has anyone stayed here lately?

I don't know the location of the hotel but just to warn you. Years ago we were going to San Diego and wanted to stay at a nice hotel. I booked the Hyatt in La Jolla (not cheap) They showed pictures on the internet and it looked lovely. It was a lovely hotel but the area called LaJolla is very large - no where near the water - no view of the water. It was a business hotel across I-5. We were so unhappy that I spoke to the duty manager and asked if we could move to the other Hyatt at Mission Beach. They said it was an older hotel but we could move if we wanted to. It was like night and day. We felt like we were on vacation there not a business meeting. Just thought I would throw that in so you don't get fooled by the LaJolla name. As I said I don't know where the Residence Inn is so it may not be an issue.
