Aloha from Kaua`i...
Ours is a small, round island -- just one main round around the island; none which traverse across it. It's pretty hard to get lost while driving here! 8-)
No need to order a map -- they can be printed for free from this website:
http://www.driveguidemagazines.com/kauai_maps.html
When you arrive on the island, all of the car rental agencies offer free driving maps. Maps can also be found in many of the free "tours and attractions" brochures displayed in the Lihu`e Airport baggage claim area.

You can order a free Kauai brochure form this site. I'm sure they have a good map in it.

They also have a nice printable map.

We were just onthe island and used the one from Hwaiian Airlines. If you fly in on Hawaiian they hand them out before landing. The rental caragencies have decent maaps too. Kauai is not hard to navigate unless you are looking for a small residental street, then you might need a better map that provided by the airlines or rental car agencies.

Thanks everyone. I guess I should have mentioned my intention in ORDERING a map in advance had more to do with plotting out my daily plans than actually navigating the island. I know I can print things from online sources (though I thank you for the recomendations since some of these were new to me), but I like to jot down notes on a full-sized map.
Thanks anyway though... I've still got three months to obsess about this

Thanks for the tip Sunnyshine. I haven't purchased the "Revealed" book for Kauai because I did buy it for the Big Island, but found it contained nothing that I couldn't discover for free online.
I'd still like to order a full-sized map of Kauai but haven't found what I'm looking for.

Hi ShaeC- This is the one we have: http://www.booklineshawaii.com/InvDi...rm.aspx?id=224
I have these maps for 4 of the HI islands. I had a hard time finding it on line, they are from University of Hawaii Press. The edition is dated 2004, maybe you can find a later one on line.
