We stayed there about two months ago and found nothing wrong with it. The rooms were very nice and spacious. The staff was very nice. The pool area was big and clean. It is something out of the 50's/60's, very art deco. I would stay there again.

The Radisson Deauville is most assuredly NOT in South Beach itself. It is four miles to the north. It is a MiMo (Midcentury Modern) building, nice, very representative of the style of Miami Beach of the 1950s. Radisson has kept up the property, so you will have a clean, comfy room. You will also have few choices in restaurants in the immediate area, as well as essentially NO nightlife within walking distance. There is great shopping at the Bal Harbour Shops, 2.5 miles to the north.
The Deauville is a nice property, and for the beach and some relaxation, it's a great choice. If you want to have good dining and nightclub choices very close by, you'd be better off in South Beach.

Thank you SusieQ and RJW_lgb_ca for your input. We are just looking for a quiet beach spot and it would appear that we have found it! This is a stopping off place before proceeding to Aruba where we are staying at the Marriott resort. st2327
