The latest new nickname for London (although maybe my English mates were referring to England as a whole) is "Blighty". I've now heard this twice in the last month. Is it London or England? Anyone?

Rochester NY -- Flour City which city fathers rewrote as the Flower City
Boston -- not just Beantown but "The Hub" (of the universe, of course)
Chicago - Windy City (all double entendres relevant); City That Works; City of Big Shoulders --> City of Big Armpits
Charlotte NC also calls itself the Queen City but with only one meaning intended

Dallas, Texas = The Big D
San Antonio = Alamo City

Durham, NC: The Bull City and the City of Medicine

Chapel Hill, NC: The Southern Part of Heaven

Surfergirl - Blighty is a colloquial name for England, and does not really mean London. It was originally used by the soldiers in WW1.
