Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg restaurants

We'll be in PF/Gatlinburg this weekend for a marriage retreat and will be on our own for several meals. Anyone have any recommendations? I'm not into BBQ, chains or fast-food and having driven through I know that marks off a number of the possibilities.

If you want country cooking there are Applewood restaurants in both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We like both the Park Grill and Peddler in Gatlinburg.

I haven't been to either of these places, but have had them recommended repeatedly...
Howard's and The Best Pizza Place (or something to that name)..The pizza place is at the end of the Elks Lodge plaza...and Howard's is nearby. Howard's has outdoor dining and a webcam..and I believe these places are owned by the same people and you can eat your Italian outdoors also...

Out in Pigeon Forge we love to have Sunday lunch at the Log Cabin Pancake House...they have a very small country cooking buffet..always, with fried chicken and country ham..and some other good meat..3 or 4 veggies..small salad bar with deviled eggs on Sundays...and wonderful banana pudding..

leahinsc, the Italian place is called "Best Italian Cafe & Pizzeria"..and while I was searching for that I found a place we will try on our next trip up, it's in the Smokey Mountain Arts & Crafts community and is called Wild Plum Tea Room..also, take a look at tripadvisor.com for reviews of restaurants.

For great food definitely try the Applewood Farmhouse/Grill restaurants, or the Old Mill in Pigeon Forge. The Pancake Pantry in Gatlinburg is great for breakfast.

In response to Iceeu2's last post, we've eaten at the Wild Plum Tearoom on the Arts & Crafts Loop, and while they have a very limited menu, what they do have is absolutely delicious ... and save room for dessert!

Pancake Pantry is good. I like the restaurant that used to be called Burning Bush for breakfast, but don't know the new name. We didn't care that much for the restaurant actually named Applewood, but really liked Park Grill.

Bringing this thread to the top for any recent restaurant reviews in Gatlinburg primarily, but also Pigeon Forge. Looking for top recommendations of places with good food, not stuffy or over-priced.

Thanks,
