Pet-Friendly Hotels in Asheville

Planning on a quick spring weekend in Asheville with our dog. Want to be close as possible to downtown as we'll do most of our eating/drinking there. The closest options appear to be on Tunnel Rd right near the Mall. These are also much cheaper than other pet-friendly options. Specifically looking at the Days Inn and the Econolodge. We know not to expect much, but if this area or these hotels are really undesireable, please let me know. Thanks.

A couple of years ago we stayed at the Residence Inn Asheville Biltmore and we saw lots of dogs. It was about a five minute drive to downtown.

Tunnel road is definitely where the icky-er hotels are. I'm not sure I've stayed at either of those propertites (you know how those names all run together), but I've stayed at several others on Tunnel Rd. and they were OK/acceptable if all you are doing is coming back to the room and crashing. The Days Inn looks OK from the outside if I remember correctly.

Did you check Best Western (Biltmore I think they call it) in downtown? It's not a very nice hotel either, but the location is great...walking distance to your eating/drinking spots. It's the cheapest place in downtown that I'm not afraid to stay in.

Obxgirl - you don't happen to live in Greenville, do you?

Thanks guys. Litespeed_Chick, we have stayed at the BW and really like it for the location and the value, but unfortunately they don't allow dogs.

There's also a decent-looking Comfort Inn on Fairview Rd just a couple miles further from downtown than the Days Inn. Is this a much better location? Thanks again for your help.

Decided to go with the Comfort Inn River Ridge on Fairview Rd - looks like a pretty nice property and while it costs a bit more, there are no additional pet fees (nice suprise).
