PANIC ATTACK HOLIDAY INN FT. LAUDERDALE

After reading the thread on the HOLIDAY INN, I will now cancel and rebook someplace else. At this late date the ? is where. I do not want to use priceline>>>HELP>>>What is Deerfield and Boca Ratton like? YOUR suggestions please. I had wanted to stay on the OCEAN.....it must be clean and upbeat, with nice facilities.

Relax. Call the hotel in the morning and ask for the Manager, Asst. GM, or rooms division Manager and explain your situation. See if they will guarentee you a nice room.

BTW, I don't think there is much difference in the beaches themselves. The cities are a little different but that is about it.

Still can't get out what I'm trying to say.

Boca, Hobe Sound, Jupiter, Palm Beach etc are more social upscale and Ft. Lauderdale beaches are more sporty blue collar. It is hard to explain because Ft. Lauderdale beaches aren't blue collar at all but compared to Palm Beach they are. Does that make sense?

Thanks GoTravel. I was really having a spazz attack when I read about the booger on the mirror. I can call the HOTEL as you suggested. However, there will still be a small pool and the neighbourhood won't change. Is it really as bad as the thread suggested?

In Deerfield, there is a GREAT Embassy Suites directly ON the Ocean...We have stayed there before and loved it....

Highland Beach ( just N of Boca) has a GREAT Holiday Inn directly ON the Beach also...

The Holiday Inn in Ft Lauderdale that you have a reservation at is literally a dump...and in an iffy area...

If you still want Ft Lauderdale, try Hyatt Pier 66 , or Amerisuites on 17th st causeway..Both are way way way way nicer...

Sunniest -- I live in Fort Lauderdale and drove by and around the Holiday Inn. The parking previously mentioned is directly behind the hotel and is a parking garage tucked behind the questionable establishments. I would only be concerned if I were a single female walking from the garage to the hotel (personally, I don't care at all for parking garages, but they are necessary.) Don't panic.

Hyatt Pier 66 is very nice, and so is the Marina Marriott just across the intracoastal from Pier 66. I'd stay away from the Doubletree on the ocean, it is probably no better than the Holiday Inn.

I know you don't like Priceline, but I recently got the Marina Marriott for $48 and they gave me a free upgrade at check-in. This hotel was going for between $145-$200 for the quality room I won on Priceline and what I ended up with. Both the Pier 66 and the Marina Marriott are on the Water Taxi line, which is a great way to see Ft Laud this time of year because of all the Christmas decor on the homes and the boats.

Let me know if I can be of any help.
