Ft Lauderdale: cheap hotel near beach?

Looking for an inexpensive place to stay within easy walking distance of the Ft. Lauderdale Beach. Quality not important (within reason).

I don't know if you have to be in Ft. Lauderdale for a reason but Hollywood Florida, just down the road from FLL is much cheaper.

www.hollywoodfl.org

Lauderdale-By-The-Sea is also a cheaper alternative.

www.LBTS.com

For Ft. Lauderdale, try priceline or hotwire for the best deals.

What time of year?

Late April.

I'm going on a sailboat trip that leaves from a marina in Fort Lauderdale and wanted to squeeze in some beach time afterwards. Flying into FLL and won't have a car, so Fort Laud. would work best.

Normally for longer stays I would look at LBTS or Hollywood (I've stayed in the area before), but this is a quickie.

To GoTravel: Just curious....does the same hold true for Real Estate prices? (i.e., condos)

There are lots of small inexpensive hotels near the ocean. a few that come to mind are: Best Western Oceanside, Days Inn Bahia Cabana, Ramada Sea Club Resort, Holiday Inn Ft. L Beach, and Beach Plaza Resort. Also used to be a Howard Johnsons right across from beach-not sure if it is still there, but I think so.

Try looking at expedia, travelocity, etc. for some area hotels. You might find one by the beach. Which marina? I think the main one is on the south end of the beach, next door to the Radisson Bahia Mar. Bahia Cabana and Best Western Oceanside are close to that marina and it's a very nice section of the beach.

A little farther north are some hotels near the beach (Merriweather comes to mind, but there are loads of others.)
