Ft. Lauderdale Ocean Hacienda???
If you have stayed there, please tell me about it. Also, it's in Ft. Lauderdale, but on the beach. I know that most hotels in Ft. L are across the street from the beach. Is this hotel close enough to walk to the restaurants, etc. in Ft. Lauderdale? Thank you.

When we were in FLL I went inside this place as we did not have reservations any one particular place. They had rooms. They were o.k. for the price. It is very old, as most of the places, and we did exactly what Barb said. We went next door to the Best Western. The room was clean, but I just didn't like it. It smelled like cleaning solvents big time. That is not a bad thing, but the smell was very strong. The best Western was more appealing to me, both on the beach. They also had a very nice buffet breakfast in the a.m. I understand they are building a high rise. It was called Pelican Inn. As for restaurants, I believe it was a long walk to where the cafes' are located. If you are not renting a car, a taxi shouldn't be expensive.

Be advised that this hotel is in north Ft. Lauderdale, a few miles from the main Ft. Lauderdale beach "strip" where there are alot of restaurants and shops to walk to. If you like a quiet area it would be okay. If you like alot going on you may want to check out Lago Mar, Marriott harbor Beach (both the nicest), then the Sheraton Clipper and Best Western Oceanside. Clipper is on the beach, best western is behind the Clipper, but on same side of the street as the ocean.
